Playing catch up, one poem down, one more to go!

every pair of jeans i own
has holes from where my thighs rub together,
so i wear colorful leggings underneath
and pretend the tattered threads were done on purpose,
a fashion statement,
so in style to be too much
for the heavy denim to handle.
i rip the knee, another strategic maneuver
to draw the eye from the inner thigh bulge. 
just last weekend my favorite pair of jeans—which at the time
had yet to succumb to the trend—split right at the butt, 
cause for an awkward exit from a friends passenger side seat
without giving myself away. 
i guess my point is
a good pair of pants is hard to find.
